Sensitivity of Four Indices of Meteorological Drought for Rainfed Maize Yield Prediction in the State of Sinaloa, Mexico

In the state of Sinaloa, rainfall presents considerable irregularities, and climate is mainly semiarid, which highlights importance studying sensitivity various indices meteorological drought. The goal to evaluate four drought from five weather stations in Sinaloa for prediction rainfed maize yield. Using DrinC software data period 1982–2013, following were calculated: standardized precipitation index (SPI), agricultural (aSPI), reconnaissance (RDI) effective (eRDI). observed yield (RMYob) was obtained online, through free access database Agrifood Fisheries Information Service government Mexico. Sensitivities between RMYob estimated using Pearson Spearman correlations. Predictive models (RMYpr) calculated multiple linear nonlinear regressions. models, aSPI eRDI with reference periods time steps one month (January), two months (December–January) three (November–January), most sensitive. correlation coefficients RMYpr ranged 0.423 0.706, all being significantly different zero.
